Etching initiates the token creation process by specifying attributes such as the token’s name, divisibility, symbol, and other immutable properties. This step marks the beginning of creating a rune.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to etch runes tokens so you can start participating in Bitcoin’s new token economy.
Etch Runes
Step 1: Visit the OrdinalsBot Home Page and click the “Runes” on the top of homepage. Then connect wallet.
Step 2: Fill Your Rune Details
- Ticker: The name of your token.
- Supply: The maximum number of units that can ever be created for a Rune.
- Symbol: The short ticker symbol for your token.
- Divisibility: Divisibility of your tokens. Default is 0, choose between 0 and 18.
- Premine: The amount of Rune units which the etcher can optionally allocate to themselves.
- Min. Amount: The maximum number of units that can ever be created for a Rune.
- Turbo: It means this rune will apply all future protocol changes
- Upload File: Would you like to provide your own file to inscribe with the rune?
Step 3: Check that it matches the form you filled in. If it is correct, click “Next“.
Step 4: “Select Fees” section shows you how much it costs for Etching Runes.
You can also set the network fee here. The picture shows βNormal 11 sats/vBβ and βCustomβ. Click on βCustomβ to set the network fee rate. Then click βSubmit & Pay Invoiceβ.
Step 5: Here, you are offered 4 payment options. You can make the payment using the method that is most convenient and suitable for you. In our case, the automatically selected “Pay with Wallet” option is appropriate. After that, click on the “Pay with Connected Wallet”.
Step 6: Confirm the Transaction
After confirming your details, submit the etch request. You will need to sign the transaction and pay using Bitcoin from your payment address.
Step 7: In the “Payment Info“, a link to Mempool is provided. You can use it to check your transaction.
Etching a Rune may take 60-90 minutes. Once thatβs done, the road to minting is clear.
